After a classmate is killed in a neighborhood shooting, a twelve-year-old boy and his friends set out to honor him one last time — but when they cross into dangerous territory after dark, an old neighborhood warning proves to carry consequences far more real than they imagined.
SYNOPSIS
After attending a candlelight vigil for a classmate killed in a neighborhood shooting, twelve-year-old Franklin rallies three friends to complete a bucket list meant to honor their fallen friend — and preserve the joy they’re afraid of losing.
As fear and tension ripple through the community, Franklin’s mother reminds him of an old neighborhood warning passed down through generations:
Be home before the streetlights come on.
But when the boys stumble upon the identity of the shooter — and come into possession of the murder weapon — their childhood mission collides with a dangerous adult reality.
As day slips into night, imagination and reality begin to blur. The rules Franklin thought were metaphor start to feel real, and ignoring his mother’s warning carries consequences that may not be entirely human.
Caught between loyalty, fear, and the fading safety of childhood, Franklin must decide what parts of innocence he’s willing to let go of — and what it might cost to hold on.
